Saturday 9: Accidentally in Love

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In the video for this song, a young man dances alone in the kitchen while making breakfast for his lady love. When no one's looking, do you often bust a move?  I do. I also, thanks to my job, daily (Monday - Friday) bust a move in front of others. Just yesterday one of my consumers jumped up at the nursing home we were visiting to demonstrate the Chicken Dance to the residents and pulled me up to help her out.

2) "Accidentally in Love" was featured in the animated movie Shrek 2.  In this video, a plushie from the movie is shown on their bed. Do you have any plush toys in your bedroom?  Yes, the grandchildren have gifted us with a few and they stand guard in the bedroom.

3) The lyrics liken falling in love to strawberry ice cream that he just can't resist. What sweet treat would hit the spot right now?  I wouldn't say no to a slice of the bumbleberry pie I bought the other day...with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

4) He sings about lightening. Astraphobia is the fear of thunderstorms. Have you ever suffered from astraphobia?  Nope. Thanks to my grandmother who made them fun for me. When I was a small child she'd set up a card table in the living room, throw blankets over it, and let me drag all manner of stuff inside my "tent" and I'd happily spend the day "camping." When I was older we'd often sit on her front porch talking and drinking tea while watching storms roll by.

5) This song is about falling in love when he wasn't looking for it. Has this ever happened to you? Or have you usually found romance while actively seeking a partner (dating sites, blind dates, etc.)?  It's been a long time but I don't think I ever actively sought out love. I'd just meet guys in the course of living my life and whatever happened, happened.

6) This week's artists, The Counting Crows, got their start in San Francisco. A famous quote, often attributed to Mark Twain, says, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." How has the summer weather been where you are?  All over the place! First, it was cooler than usual with lots of rain. Lately, it's been quite hot and humid with lots of rain. Next week we should see more normal temperatures for this time of year (mid to upper 70s), but still some rain and storms.

7) In 2004, when this song was popular, Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook. Have you checked Facebook today?  Yes. I still check Facebook every day, though I don't know why. My feed has become so clogged up with ads, reels, and posts from people/groups I don't know because FB's algorithms think I'd be interested that I have to go hunting for friends and family to find out what's going on with them. It's rather bothersome.

8) Also in 2004, we lost President Ronald Reagan. Before entering politics, he had a decades-long career in Hollywood and appeared in 53 films. Have you ever seen a Ronald Reagan movie?  I feel like I probably have, but it would have been years ago and I can't tell you which one.

9) Random question: Describe your favorite pajamas.  In the summer it's a silky tank and bicycle shorts. In the winter it's a t-shirt and leggings.

  4. That pie sounds interesting. We let the grands make tents too. Then during Covid, we set up real tents, inside too. Even Minnie our fig has a tent!
