Welcoming November with Sunday Stealing

Happy November 1st! I hope everyone survived the Halloween hauntings of yesterday. Halloween was a lovely, if chilly, day here and we had more trick or treaters than we've had in years. That made me happy as I didn't expect much turn out with every community having different times. I know they do it so families that need to make it to Grandma's or something can do it all, but all the different times seem to muddy the waters with everyone ending up unsure when the official trick or treat times are.

Lots of spooks, big and little, stopped by and I got a lot of compliments on my skeletons. Another hit was the photo banner (with holes to put your face in) I added yesterday. The only thing that made me sad was how many children and teenagers have exactly zero manners...or maybe they just don't know how to interact with other people, period. They just scurried up to the candy, picked what they wanted, and scurried back off the porch. I tried to talk and interact with everyone who came, but for some there was no response...even when they were right beside me. And yes, I know there could be underlying reasons (like autism, for example), but I don't think it explains as many as there were. I really think kids are just not learning how to interact these days.

I got a pretty sweet deal on some Halloween decorations at Tractor Supply two weeks ago when they put everything on sale at 75% off. Everyone loved getting their candy and a few jumped....the horse skull's eyes lit up and it neighs when you reach into it and the cowboy skeleton moves and talks when it senses you.

I added a banner to take photos behind this year and folks seemed to love it and used it all night. This shows our grands in it.

My night was made when Forrest Gump came through the neighborhood waving like everyone was Lt. Dan!

Tim isn't into the trick or treating...never has been. He never walked around with our kids or gave out treats. He's even worse the older he gets, very antisocial. However, with me being busy, he did cook up and season the meat for tacos for supper and that was a big help.

Now, on to Sunday Stealing!

1. Do you have a business card? If yes, what's your job title?  I don't have one for my actual job, but my daughter and I do have some to give people at craft shows in case they want to order something custom.

2. What day of the week were you born?  Saturday. An interesting aside, I have a young man at work with an unusual ability. You can tell him any date and year and he can tell you what day of the week it was within seconds.

3. What vegetable do you refuse to eat?  Eggplant. I find it slimy and horrible tasting. I have tried it cooked in many dishes and nothing hides or improves the taste or texture.

4. How many times have you stayed overnight in the hospital?  Let's see...when my son was born, when my daughter was born, and when I had my gallbladder removed. So, three.

5. Do you have more piercings or tattoos?  Piercings. I have three holes in my left ear and one in my right. I have one tatt on my ankle.

6. Do you like to shop?  I loved it when I was younger. Now my legs and feet tend to make anything more than half an hour torture, but I am quite content to shop online. Christmas is the one time I wish I could do more shopping in the stores.

7. How much cash is in your wallet right now?  None. I usually don't carry much cash and I spent what I had on Thursday and haven't had a chance to put any in there since.

8. Let's play MASH: Do you live in a mansion, apartment, shack, or house?  House.

9. Where are you in the family birth order (oldest, middle child, youngest, or only child)?  I'm an only child. Had I grown up having any interaction with my half-siblings I would have been the oldest.

10. When you were 5 years old, what did you call your parents?  The same and only thing I ever called them, Mom and Dad.
