Thankful Thursday

I'm linking up today, as I do every Thursday, with Jen, who is filling in as host of Thankful Thursday while Rebecca Jo takes a much needed break from the blogging world.

The past week has been a busy one that has left me feeling wiped out physically and mentally, but there is still much to be thankful for.

This week I am thankful...

** for the guidance counselor, the sole staff member at my grandson's kindergarten orientation, who cared about his anxiety and subsequent meltdown when he was separated from his parents the second he walked in the door. My daughter is grateful and so I am that she took the time to talk to him and do her best to reassure him rather than look down her nose like he was nothing but a problem.

** for the doctor who is taking my daughter's symptoms seriously. Possibilities like "brain tumor" and "multiple sclerosis" are beyond frightening. It's good to have a doctor who is on top of things, checking all the possibilities, calling in specialists, and ordering tests. It may be serious, it may be nothing, but a good doctor in your corner is always a blessing.

** our great-nephew received his bone marrow/stem cell transplant today. He is tired, but he did well. He slept through the whole process, his vitals have remained steady, and he ate half a hotdog, cheese and crackers, juice and water for dinner after it was over. Our whole family is grateful to all who have been praying for him. Please keep it up...the next few weeks could be rough as they wait to see if the cells multiply and "take."

** for what I think was a good job interview today. I was comfortable with the two women who interviewed me and they seemed pleased with my answers. It felt like a good fit and I would love to work at the library. They have one other interview next week. They will let me know either way after that.

** our garage sale was very successful and nearly everything Tim and I put out for sale is gone!

** I got my library card (and maybe bonus points with the boss) when I was at the library for my interview. I borrowed the first books I've checked out since my kids have been out of school.

** for lots and lots of time with the grands this week as there will soon be less as Colt starts kindergarten tomorrow and Leah will start preschool either Friday or next week (they find out tomorrow at her orientation).

** a good friend from my former Bible study group is going to go with me to one of the study groups starting up at my church next week.

** my first time in the church nursery went well. Leah went with me to "help" with the babies and was so excited about the twins that she wants to go back.

** my daughter and her husband have finally given the okay for me to take the kids to Sunday school. Leah is all for it, but Colt doesn't want to for now.

** for my Lord's faithful answers to prayers, his love, and his mercies.

** for all the people who make up my world...my family, friends, and all of you in my online world.

Welcome to September! I pray your month is filled to overflowing with blessings and you find joy in the noticing of them.

  1. Praying for your daughter right now. Those are both frightening possibilities, and we are praying for the neither of those option. May God give her Dr. wisdom and may they find the answers and how to treat whatever is causing the symptoms. Praying now. I pray for little Colt regarding his going to school and also the possibility of Sunday School. May the Lord calm his fears and give him peace and joy in the process. Praying for your great nephew to be healed through this process. Praying for you to get the library job if that is where you are meant to be. It sounds like a good fit for you. There was so much in this post...God is really working in your lives and we are praying for your family. Happy September!
