Thankful Thursday

Well....grrrrr. Just grrrrr. I woke up feeling like a bear that woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning to begin with and now I find that Blogger has apparently lost the post I wrote last night. What that means is that I reallllly need to count my blessings this morning, because there is nothing like looking for the good things in life and giving thanks for them to put your focus back where it ought to be.

So, here I am, grumbling and in a funk, linking up with Jen, our temporary host while Rebecca Jo takes a blogging break.

This week I am thankful...

** God understands and forgives my grumblings and bad moods and gives me a way to escape from them.

** God has given me his example of grace so that I know how to extend the same to the ones who make me grumble.

** for the lone guidance counselor that took the time to help calm Colton down when his anxiety went into overdrive at his kindergarten orientation. I'm not sure what "genius" thought it was a good idea to grab the kids and separate them from their parents as they walked through the door, but that's what they did and Colton just didn't handle it well. That couselor was the only staff member who stepped forward to help rather than look at him as a problem.

** my daughter has a doctor who listens to her. After a scary episode in which she blacked out while driving, her doctor listened to what she's been experiencing and was willing to say maybe the fibromyalgia diagnosis isn't the correct one. She has ordered an MRI (waiting for insurance approval), physical therapy, and is referring Megan to a neurologist. Yes, words like "brain tumor" and "multiple sclerosis" are scary, but better to be thorough and know the enemy.

** for a good interview at the library. I was relaxed and felt comfortable with the administrator and her assistant. They seemed pleased with my answers. They have one other person to interview next week and then they will let me know either way. It felt right. I hope I get the job.

** Colton starts kindergarten today and Leah has her preschool orientation today, as well. I love my daughter and her husband, but their home is often a bit of a chaotic free-for-all. The kiddos need some structure and a less fluid schedule. School will give them that.

** for lots of time with Colton and Leah this past week. It's going to be so different with them both in school all day. I will miss having so much time with them.

** a dear friend from my old Bible study group has said she will go with me to one of my church's small groups when it starts up next week.

** that as of today I can begin to say it's fall. I know the calendar doesn't say it is, but it's September. It is fall, the most wonderful time of the year! Already the days are growing shorter (yes, I am that odd person who LIKES the shorter days), the nights are cooler, Friday nights are for hometown football games, there's a certain smell in the air, and my favorite colors and flavors are popping up all over. I will most likely decorate the house this weekend. I might resist decorating the yard for a couple more weeks.

** for so many things, not the least of which is all of you!

  1. Life can be so hard sometimes and we do get grumpy, but as you said, God gives us grace. I'm so glad you got up and decided to list your thankful things again and made the choice to be thankful. I'm so glad to hear the interview went well and I hope you get the job. Go ahead and decorate, I just told hubby I may put out some fall decorations today too. Hope you have a great day!!

  2. Hi Stacy. I hope you get the library job. That's a job I would want as well. I also will pray for your daughter, that she can find the medical answers she needs. I can't imagine who decided to separate kindergarteners from their parents during orientation night. That doesn't sounds like a good idea, but I am glad that there was a kind counselor who helped Colton. I hope you have a good weekend. It is super hot here still, but the weather forecasts saw we might start to finally cool off next week. See you again soon. I will be joining in Thankful Thursday in just a little while. Have a good weekend. :-)

  4. I thought for sure I had already commented on your post that you wrote about this, but I guess that's the one that is lost? Anyway, I am praying for Megan to get some good answers and for her Dr. to have wisdom. Praying for Colton to adjust to school and be happy. Praying for you to get the library job if that is where God wants you to be, and just praying for you and your family in general. God is with you and He is in control in all situations, even when it doesn't seem like He is. Thankful for YOU. Have a great weekend.
