Feeling Thankful on a Snowy Friday

I'm running behind this week, but I wanted to post a few things I'm feeling thankful about and for something different, share a few of the things I've found on Amazon lately in a nod to Friday Finds.

I'm feeling thankful to be home on this snowy Friday. (I could have lived without the sick part, however.) We've gotten about 5 inches of the white stuff at this point...not a big snow by any means, but enough to be a pain and the wind has picked up so there is blowing. The kiddos, at least, have had a great day sledding with friends. It's the first time they've been able to do that in a couple of years since we had no snow to speak of last year.

Also on the thankful list today is that I am beginning to feel better. The cough is really all that is still going on, but when it gets going I just can't stop. It wears me out physically. I know I'm not better as when I had to go out to shovel a spot in the snow for Daisy to do her business it had me drenched in sweat. It wasn't hard shoveling, just that cold, yucky sweating you do when you still have a bug. Still, I am ever so thankful to be feeling a lot better.

Tim has not been feeling well lately, either. I strongly suspect that since I had covid he did, too, but we'll never know for sure since he refuses to get tested. He should be negative by now, anyway. He never gives himself the opportunity to rest by just staying home and being sick. He has worked all along, but... he has only been working 8 hour days this week and he beat me home the days I worked. He falls asleep once he is home and sleeps several hours before getting up for dinner and a little TV. I'm thankful (and surprised) he is allowing himself even that much time to rest.

Of course I am thankful for the usual things: my relationship with Jesus Christ and my church family; my family and friends; my home; my pets; and all of you who stop by to visit.

As for Friday Favorites, I guess I'm thankful to have discovered these things on Amazon.

This awesome electric fireplace/TV stand.

This HUGE 30x20 inch cutting/noodle/charcuterie board.
Megan borrowed my old bread board years ago and never gave
it back. I've been looking forever for one that is big enough
and wouldn't break the bank!

This decent sized foldable litter pan. It has an opening on the top
that Oliver much prefers to use. He could still use the door on
the front, but doesn't. At least it keeps curious Poodles out. I
also love how easy it is to clean with the drawer that pulls out.

These awesome highlighters that are perfect for
Bible study. The colors are nice and bright but they
don't bleed through thin pages.

These are my normal vitamins, but I had
never seen them in a mini size before. I have to
take 2, but it's better than the usual horse pill size.

And the very book I needed for the ladies'
reading group at church.

So what are you thankful for this week? Have you found any cool things that make life a little easier?

  1. Hi Stacy. I am glad that you are taking the time off to rest and feel better - especially on a snowy day. I hope that you and Tim are better much better soon. I enjoyed reading about your Friday FInds on Amazon. We have one of those electric fireplace/TV stands and really like it. I think I need to get some of those highlighters that don't bleed and will keep that cat box in mind when we get another kitty. I hope that you have a good weekend and continue to get well!

    1. Your mention of how much you like your electric fireplace played into why I started looking into them.

  2. Wonderful post. Praying for both you and Tim, that you will feel better really soon. Love your items that you found online. Did you buy the fireplace/tv stand? I am sure you will enjoy it. We have a little free standing electric fireplace stove and I love it. We rarely ever turn on the actual heat part of it, but just enjoy the ambience of the fireplace burning. It's one of my most favorite things in our living room! Take care and get the rest you need as well!

    1. We did buy the fireplace. Only half of it has arrived (shipped in 2 boxes) and Tim has to put it together. I'm looking forward to enjoying the look and the heat when needed.

  3. I am so thankful you are improving! I've been praying for good health for all of us. God is good, amen!?
I'm with Tim, I wouldn't test either. Thankfully haven't had any reason too since 2019 when I got the full-blown original Chinese virus. (That was a doozy!) Haven't had one or a head cold since. I think it's because that's when we had given up sugar. Just my opinion.
Neat looking litter box. I like the highlighters too. I'll have to order some. Thanks for the recommend. Will also check out the book. I'm still reading "Breaking Free" by Beth Moore. I HIGHLY recommend reading this!!! It is changing my way of thinking A LOT! Praise God.
Sending more prayers for healing. xx

    1. I only tested because of working with special needs folks who have tons of health issues as it is. Covid could be a really bad thing for many of them. I read Breaking Free last year or the year before. It was a good one!

  4. Leah and Colton remind me of the child I used to be! That's a beautiful fireplace .... but I'm most drawn to the cutting board/noodle. I was really hoping for a noodle at Christmas, then Tom asked, "Where would you PUT it when you want to use the stove top?"

  5. Stacy, I love your new fireplace! I'm sure it lends a comfy and warm ambiance to your living room.... warm for sure!! The kids look like they are having a blast in the snow. I'm going to Amazon to look at that litter box. My big boys are both in the 15-18 pound size and it looks like it might be a little small but I love it. The drawer is a game-changer!! Have a blessed weekend and keep feeling better!! xo

    1. It might be small for your boys. Oliver is only 11.5 lbs. I think there are other manufacturers and sizes on Amazon though.

It's Nearly Here

As I sit here in the glow of the Christmas tree lights, I'm forced to wonder if we will be celebrating Christmas at all. I am on track...
